Hope This Works!
I am so happy to be typing this update today! I have had a few issues with this blog- I hope they are fixed now.
Here is an update for the rest of this week-
In my science classes, we will finish our discussion of the scientific method. We will be measuring with the lab equipment and conducting an experiment intended to highlight the steps of the scientific method. Our test on the scientific method will be Thursday, September 3. A study guide will go home early next week in order to allow parents to study with their child.
In my math classes, we will continue to talk about fractions, decimals, percents, and ratios. We had one quiz on the first 5 sets of fractions, decimals, and percents yesterday (8/25/2015) and will have a quiz on the second set on Friday, August 28. My students will be taking the ARDT, the Algebra Readiness and Diagnostic Test, on Thursday. This helps us to determine the beginning math level of each child and will help me see which areas each child needs extra assistance. On Tuesday, September 1, we will take the MAP test for math.
I hope you each have a wonderful week! Remember to email me with any questions or concerns.

Tuesday
We are almost halfway through our second week of school! Tomorrow all students will have a math test on SOL 6.1 Ratios. I sent home a study guide we completed in class. Students should use the notebook and study guide to review for the test tomorrow. Reworking the problems and practicing the steps to solve ratios will greatly benefit students. If you child is in my homeroom, we will take our Interactive Achievement Pre-Assessment tomorrow morning. All I ask is that students try their best and move on if they don't know an answer. Have a great evening!

One Week Down
We have had a wonderful week here at TMS! We are still adjusting to our schedules and lockers. Students need to make sure they have all their belongings needed for class before leaving their lockers. I have many items already in my lost and found. If your child is missing anything, please have them check with me.
Next week, we will have a TEST on SOL 6.1 Ratios. I will send a completed study guide home with students on Tuesday. In science we will continue to study the scientific method. We will begin a short review of measurement and equipment used in experiments.
Rest, and enjoy your weekend!

Day Number two- great day!
Good evening parents! We have had a wonderful second day at school. Today we set up our notebooks and binders, and sorted school supplies. Students are starting to understand how to change classes and keep up with their schedules.
Homework for my math class: Homework and Spiral Review for Tuesday; I will check it tomorrow and go over it in class. Students are expected to make corrections for a grade on Friday.
Homework for my science class (not any other teacher): None, but please remember to bring a composition book if you have not
See you bright and early tomorrow!

Open House
What a wonderful Open House! I enjoyed meeting many of you and seeing former students. I am busy preparing for Monday morning. Of course, I have lesson plans and my water jug ready to go. Again, the best email address to use is the one I provide on our syllabus. I look forward to seeing all of my new students on Monday. Enjoy the weekend!
